Ebook Readers and PDF Files
Okay, I have been considering getting a Nook, for a couple of reasons. One - I am a bookworm and portabooks are good. Secondly, I’ve heard they’re PDF friendly (assuming there’s no shitty zoom issues) meaning my massive stash of PDF D&D books could, in theory, be carried about on one small little device (currently it’s a laptop or nothing). Has anyone tried to put PDF...

Repo! The Genetic Opera
Firstly, thanks to being a huge Buffy fan, I will watch anything with Anthony Stewart Head in it without thinking. Two, it was on Netflix instant. The casting is as weird as the movie, Anthony Head, Sarah Brightman (yes, Phantom of the Opera Sarah Brightman), Alexa Vega (of Spy Kids fame) and Paris Hilton. Oh and it’s from the director of Saw. So, the initial reaction is,...

V-day Panic
I always make a big to do about good old Valentine’s Day, unfortunately, I believe that last year, I kind of set the bar too high. This is what I did: Went out and bought a stack of little dollar store trinkets, and candy, a card, and a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii (so Geek Boy and I could play together). Found a series of riddles, each leading to a different place or thing around the...

Geek Boy got me a DIY carbonation kit for Christmas, basically, in one bottle you put part of it with vinegar and baking soda, and the other part you put in another bottle with your liquid to be carbonated, there’s a tube connecting the two, and supposedly this with carbonate your juice. It also makes some hackneyed claim that it makes “healthy drinks,” and, “your kids...

These Fortune Cookies Suck
The nearby Chinese/Japanese restaurant used to have the best fortune cookies ever. Each contained a sort of modern koan. They rarely made sense, but they were enjoyable, and they left me both amused, and flummoxed. They said things like, “The rubber bands are going in the right direction.”  We ordered from them last night, and they switched brands of fortune cookies, now my fortune...

There it is in all of it’s glory, I got it as a Christmas gift from Geek Boy, 7 mini nail polishes for $20. I have nail polish from 2002 in my house, I never finish a bottle of polish, so mini instead of full size isn’t really a...

Lord of the Rings Online
I used to play WoW, I played from a few months before BC came out, until last summer. My life is devoid of sob stories of how a video game ruined my life, the short of it is, I got bored. I couldn’t bring myself to pay a monthly fee for a game that I wasn’t having fun playing. Which has lead to a serious geeky social rift, because apparently WoW players get a little tweaked out when...

This morning I was caught on the phone by an elderly woman, who wanted me to convert to her flavor of Christianity. Being the far to polite atheist that I am, we were on the phone for half an hour, most of which was me trying to get a word in edgewise.
